Steven Page, band director

Steven, a native from Paducah, earned his B.M.E from Murray State in 1998 and his M.M. from the Univ. of Louisville in 1999.  He is now in his sixth year as band director at both West Jessamine Middle and High School.  He is also currently serving as the KMEA State Band Chair-Elect.

In his five years of teaching, the WJHS Bands have shown tremendous growth.  With over 200 students in the band program, the bands have performed for over 140,000 people, earning Distinguished ratings in concert & marching band.  Steven founded the Jessamine County Community Band and he established the Jessamine County Band Scholarship at Asbury College.

He is active as an adjudicator for Drum Corps International and the Central States Judging Association.  He is a member of KMEA and Phi Mu Alpha.

Steven also sings with his wife Shana, in the Lexington Chamber Chorale and the Park United Methodist Church Choir, where they worship with their sons Grainger & Gus.

 

CHRIS TEESDALE
Percussion Coordinator

Chris Teesdale is from Lexington, Kentucky and a 1999 graduate of Tates Creek HS. Chris is in his 4th year as Percussion Coordinator for the WJHS Bands. He is also the director for the "Stallion Stampede Drumline", which performs at Lexington Horsemen (Lexington's Indoor Football Team) home games.

Chris attended the Univ. of Louisville for three years where he studied Music Education & Percussion. In August 2002, he transferred to the Univ. of Kentucky to continue his bachelor's degree.

Chris has previously instructed marching percussion sections at Grant County, Henry County, and with the UofL Marching Band in 2001-2002. He was chosen as a percussionist for the 2002 National Wind Ensemble which performed in Carnegie Hall, in May of 2002.

Chris is a member of the Percussive Arts Society, and an alumni member of the Kappa Kappa Psi Honorary Band Fraternity (Alpha Class member of UofL Chapter).  Chris has been a member of the Alluring Handbell Ensemble, which is a professional handbell choir in Lexington.  Chris is an active soloist on the Marimba, and performs at churches throughout KY.

Chris and his wife, Teri are members of Central Christian Church in Lexington. Chris sings in the Chancel Choir and leads the Youth Music Program.
